Find what you need so you can get on with what you are doing

When you are able to go to one place to find to find whatever information you require then the days when you waste hours hunting around complex directory structures are finally over. There is no need to try to find the person who knows which Lan to go to, which directory to start wading through, what the file name might possible be, what the password is or what the type of file it may be. Just go to one place.

Whatever you know about the information you to have to find there will be a method to quickly find it.

Name

Obviously if you know a data item’s name or key value then you can jump straight to it but life’s often not that straight forward.

Type

Maybe you know what type of item it is but not what it is called – Cimera simply lists all the data items of your required type which you can then filter as required.

For example

  • show me all the widgets we own
  • list my Suppliers
  • what customer complaints have been raised

Queries

To further refine the ability to find what you want, simple or complex queries can be used to narrow down the number of data items found

For example

  • list all the PCs, that do not have a DVD drive, that have at least 1GB memory, that were installed this year

Relationships

Performing impact analysis is a breeze because it is so easy to maintain relationships and explore them with Cimera’s dynamic drill-down functionality.

For example

  • If you explore a computer network then simply click to show all the PCs connected to it
  • Click one and find all the software install on it
  • Click a software version and find all the Laptops it is also installed on
  • Click the Laptop and see who it is allocated to
  • Click the user to see where they are located
  • Click the location to see what printers are there
  • Click the printer to see what problems have been reported against it
  • etc

Dashboards

A picture speaks a thousand words and sometimes you do not know what you are looking for until you see it. Cimera’s graphs make it easy to see trends and anomalies. When you have a graph just click the appropriate part of the graph to drill down to the underlying items. Re-graph the subset with different criteria and click the section that interests you to drill down again.

For example

  • Graph all projects, split by their status. Any items in the “red” column require further investigation so click it. Group the red projects by their owner and click Jo’s column to see all Jo’s ‘red’ projects.
  • Graph the problems raised (or complaints or incidents) grouped by the week (month etc) they were raised in. Select last week and re-graph grouped by the system they are reported against.

Workflow

Workflow technology is the standard way to manage who is doing what. Cimera workflow enables the following types of questions to be answered:

  • Find me everything assigned to me to work on
  • Find me all the Lead/Prospect items assigned to me
  • Find me all the items assigned to the Marketing group that have not been assigned to an individual
  • Find me all the Lead/Prospect items assigned to user Fred working in the context of the Marketing group

Google-style searches

No information management solution is complete without a full text search facility. Type a word and every data item and every file attachment containing that word is listed with the search terms highlighted. But unlike Google the search can also be targeted at specified types of information or specific fields.

For example

  • Find all problems where any text field or any attachment contains the string “unhandled exception”
  • Find all contractors whose CVs (attached files) contain “VB.net”, “PRINCE2” and “ORACLE”

Audit

Cimera’s audit log records every activity – who changed what, from what and to what and, if required, why. It is therefore easy to list the full history of any item or relationship to see everything that has happened to it or see what has happened across the system today/this week, or what has Jim done in the last year.
